By plane
Getting to Yangon
Myanmar Airway Internatial (www.maiair.com) is the national
airway and operate a few regional routes, mainly to Thailand and
Singapore. Bangkok is the most popular place to catch a flight to
thailand if you are on mult-country tours. Even if you are flying
stright to Burma, you will still need to stop over in Bangkok,
Singapore or Kuala Lumpur as there is virtually no direct long haul
flights to/from Yangon Int Airport.
Yangon Int Airport is the only airport that International
Flights can land and on arrival visa is issued at the airport.
There is a 10USD per person for airport tax on your departure from
the country.
Flying to Bagan
You can fly to Bagan with MAI (www.maiair.com), Air Bagan, Air
Mandalay (www.airmandalay.com) and
Yangon Airway (www.yangonair.com). Take
flights from Yangon Int Airport to Nyaung Oo Airport which is 7
miles from Bagan. Some of these airlines have daily flights
and usually costs about 60USD for 30 mins flight.
By Buses
You can take bus to Bagan from Yangon, Mandalay and other
cities. Fares are quite cheap compare to the flights. They usually
cost about USD 15 from Yangon to Bagan.
